Shopware is, therefore, a Content Management System (CMS) that allows you to create and maintain an online store. Even though we, as a hosting provider, always remain neutral, we are fans of Shopware and its story.

The story began with two brothers in Germany. When they were tasked with building an online shop in 2003, they immediately gave their newly developed software a name: Shopware was born. In 2010, they made the software open source, which turned out to be a huge success. The number of downloads and, consequently, the company, grew significantly.

Shopware is built on reliable technologies like Symfony (a PHP framework) and Vue.js. This makes the platform not only flexible and powerful but also incredibly user-friendly. Since the platform is 100% open source, a partner can easily expand or modify the code themselves. In a world of increasing vendor lock-in, this strategy is a strong advantage when choosing which platform to use.

Shopware itself is indeed a free and open-source software. However, in addition to the software and building your online store, you will need something more: hosting.

Becoming a Shopware Technology Partner is not an easy feat. The e-commerce software is selective in choosing the hosting partners with whom it officially collaborates. And rightfully so, as the performance of your webshop is crucially important. Therefore, as a hosting provider, you must meet certain criteria to be considered as a potential Technology Partner.

For example, we deliberately choose not to allow Shopware on shared hosting, where multiple websites are installed on a single server. The performance of one website can affect others in this setup. Instead, we opt to provide a dedicated server, where only one website is installed – your Shopware webshop. And as your business grows, you may require a larger environment with multiple servers, and we are more than willing to cater to your needs.
